Registration of trademark in Lithuania

If you are successful producer of goods and are going to enter the market in other countries, you need to register your trademark. In such a manner you will reliably protect yourself from any actions of unconscientious competitors. You can do the foregoing in two ways: either by going through international or national registration in a particular country.

The most convenient business partners for Russia, Ukraine and other post-Soviet states are the Baltic countries, primarily Lithuania. There is no language barrier, as Russian is widely used. In addition, since January 1, 2015, the national currency in Lithuania is the euro.

In order to protect the trademark in this country, its registration, provided by the Lithuanian legislation, is required. The application for registration is submitted to the State Patent Office, where the examination is carried out. After examination, three-month period is fixed for registration and publication of the trademark, during which objection against registration may be raised.

In fact, such objections are nothing more than formality and the applicant shall obtain certificate for trademark in Lithuania without any difficulties.

It is possible to  carry out searching for similarity of the trademarks. It is not necessary to carry out the abovementioned procedure, but the risks of refusal to register trademark will be excluded. The specialists of Law&Trust International will help you search for identical or similar trademarks. We are also ready to provide complete set of services for registration of trademarks in Lithuania.

The peculiarity of trademark registration in Lithuania is that non-resident applicant is allowed to act only with the help of certain representative, namely: Lithuanian patent attorney.
