The Malta’s Commissioner for Revenue has issued a statement, according to which the companies can file corporate tax returns at a later date. The extension applies to the legal entities whose reporting period ended on December 31, 2019. In accordance with the resolution of the tax authority, the returns may be filed until December 16, 2020.
Earlier, the government of Malta already decided to extend deadlines for filing reporting documents for 2019. In particular, the companies could report on corporate tax on November 27, 2020. However, due to the current situation in the world, Malta is ready again to accommodate the corporations, which are registered on the territory of the state.
The statement said that the Malta’s Commissioner for Revenue made the relevant decision in connection with another aggravation of the coronavirus situation in the world, which created problems for companies. In addition, the tax authority faced challenges in meeting deadlines on the part of companies. The directors and accountants do not prepare the required reporting in time.
