CASP License in Malta
The CASP (Crypto Asset Services Provider) license allows companies to operate legally within the EU's crypto market. It confirms that a company can officially provide services in the digital asset sector - from cryptocurrency exchange and secure storage to wallet management and executing transactions on behalf of clients. In fact, the license acts as a financial passport in the cryptocurrency market, allowing full operation within the European Union’s single market.
Malta is considered one of the most progressive countries in cryptocurrency regulation, with its own legal framework for VFA (Virtual Financial Assets). After the MiCA regulation came into effect, the jurisdiction quickly adapted to the new realities. However, this does not preclude companies with a VFA license from benefiting from a simplified procedure for obtaining CASP status. With this license, firms can offer their services across the entire European Union.

What is a CASP License?
CASP (Crypto Asset Services Provider) is a license obtained by companies operating in the crypto asset sector. It confirms the legality of business operations and compliance with anti-money laundering (AML) and counter-terrorist financing (CFT) requirements, while also ensuring client protection and operational transparency.
All companies involved with digital assets must obtain CASP status. Such services include cryptocurrency exchange for fiat or other crypto assets, custody and management of crypto assets on behalf of clients, and participation in the issuance or sale of crypto assets. Companies providing services without a license risk fines and other sanctions.
