Bank history
It was founded in 1852 as Portland Savings Bank. In 1983, as a result of several mergers it became known as Peoples Heritage Bank. Some time later it changed its name to Banknorth. In 2007, it joined such group as TD Bank Group as TD Banknorth. In 2008, it was renamed into TD Bank. It is currently one of the 10 largest banks in the United States
