Features of trademark registration in Norway

Norway is the country that signed the Madrid Agreement. This agreement simplifies trademark registration procedure and sets uniform standards for implementation of the procedure in all states that also signed it. In Norway, the above agreement provides a number of the following features when registering trademark:

  1. Payment is made only for filing an application for international registration.
  2. In order to register trademark in other countries of the Madrid Agreement, it will not be necessary to submit additional application. It will be sufficient to indicate all the countries where registration is planned in the application.
  3. It is possible to renew the validity period of registered trademark in Norway according to simplified procedure by submitting single application.

The process takes approximately 18 months from the date of submitting application.
