The Italian gambling regulator (ADM) has announced plans to limit the gambling market in the country. To date, the quota for online casino operators is 85 licenses. After changes, their number will be reduced to 50 licenses. The regulator plans to reduce the number of licenses for gambling operators in 3 years.

The changes will fully enter into force by 2023. According to the new rules, the cost of licenses for Italian gambling providers will be 2 million euros. This tariff will be the same for companies that are just starting their activities, and for organizations that renew their licenses. Operators will be able to use permits for nine years after the receipt.

ADM will begin accepting applications starting from 2021. Operators will be able to pay the cost of the license in installments, but the down payment must be at least half the amount. The first payment is transferred no later than 30 days after the receipt of the permit, and the remaining amount must be paid no later than 30 days after the conclusion of the contract.
